PURIM ON THE ROCKS
March 09 - 12, 2017 | Budapest, Hungary
The event began with a guided tour exploring both sides of Buda and Pest (including the Royal Palace, Gellert Hill and the famous Heroes Square). On Thursday night attendees experienced the stylish Symbol nightclub. A Friday tour gave participants the opportunity to experience the Jewish Heritage tour of Budapest, including the large Dohany Street Synagogue, Kazinczy Orthodox Synagogue and Jewish Museum. For Shabbat we had approximately 300 people enjoy a traditional ECJS group shabbat with guest speaker, Sara Ives, giving interesting sessions on both the story of Purim and the weekly Parsha; alongside an educative class by Rabbi Slomo Koves. Once Shabbat ended, guests partied into the early hours at the annual costume party (1920s theme) at the exclusive Lock bar. On the Sunday, after a Megillah Reading at the Obuda Synagogue participants got to enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Danube.
