Participants were fascinated when visiting The Royal Palace of Alcazar, Europe's oldest active palace. They were intrigued with a tour at the Museum of Flamenco, the dance for which the region of Andalucía is famous.
Shabbat was celebrated with delicious Spanish food and an exhilarating atmosphere. Rabbi MenachemSebbag, Chief Jewish Chaplain to the Netherlands Armed Forces, shared his insight with the group on the moral case for warfare and his personal experiences as a military chaplain and colonel. Hamman's name was successfully drowned out with some hysterical and original noises during the Megillah reading with Latino themed Purim costumes. A Sunday exploration of the Jewish heritage of Spain and Seville included a visit to Santa Maria la Blanca, a former synagogue, which, along with so many other synagogues in Spain, was converted to a church.At the Purim seudah, food packages were exchanged and donations were made to charity so that everyone one could fulfill all the Purim mitzvot. Sunday night featured a boat cruise along Seville's Guadalquivir River.
